Block apps and set app limits on your child’s Android phone.

Cap the apps that take the most time, block the ones that aren’t right yet, and stay in the loop when something new is installed, without taking the phone away.

  • App LimitA video app1 hour a day on school days
  • Block AppsA gameCan’t be opened. Your child can ask for access
  • New App ApprovalA new downloadWaits for your OK before it opens
Blocked apps stay installed. Everything else works as normal.

A cap for the apps that need one.

Choose an app from the ones installed on your child’s phone, with their real names and icons, and set minutes per day and the days it applies. Each app has its own allowance, a new day brings a fresh one, and everything else keeps working.

You see each app’s time today next to its limit. When it’s used up, your child sees a calm screen saying they can use it again tomorrow.

Blocked, not deleted.

Pick the apps your child shouldn’t open yet and tap Save Changes. Blocked apps stay on the phone but can’t be opened. Your child sees a screen that explains it: “This app is currently blocked by your parent. You can use it again when your parent allows it.”

A way to ask, built in.

From the blocked screen, your child can tap Request Access. You get a notification and answer with Allow Access or Keep Blocked.

New App Approval

New downloads, your call.

Choose what happens when an app is installed after you turn this on.

Ask Me to Approve New Apps
New apps wait for your yes. You can approve or reject from the notification, and your child can send a reminder once every few minutes.
Auto Block New Apps
New apps are blocked straight away, and you’re told.

Kinuvo first notes the apps already on the phone, so only genuinely new installs are affected. App updates never count as new apps.

Know when an app disappears.

You’re told when an app is removed from your child’s phone. Updating an app doesn’t trigger this.

Phones down, right now.

Tap Lock Device Now on your Home screen for dinner, a conversation or a moment that needs phones down. Your child sees “Phone Locked. Your phone is currently locked by your parent.” It stays locked until you unlock it, and calls still work.

When rules overlap.

Your child sees one calm screen at a time. Phone Lock comes first, then the Daily Limit, then a Screen Time Schedule, then a blocked app, an App Limit or an app waiting for approval.

Good to know

Honest limits are part of trust.

  • Blocking works on apps, not websites (see Safer internet), calls or text messages.
  • System apps and Kinuvo Kids itself can’t be blocked or limited.
  • New App Approval covers apps installed after you turn it on.
  • There’s no “ask for more” for a single app; you can raise its limit any time.
  • App Limits follow the phone’s calendar day.
  • Phone Lock has no timer; you unlock it yourself.

Questions

All questions

What happens to blocked apps?

They stay on the phone but can’t be opened. Your child sees a calm screen that explains why, and can tap Request Access to ask you.

Will I know when my child installs a new app?

Yes, if you turn on Ask Me to Approve New Apps (new apps wait for your decision) or Auto Block New Apps (new apps are blocked and you’re told). You’re also notified when an app is uninstalled.

Can I lock my child’s phone right now?

Yes. Tap Lock Device Now on your Home screen. It stays locked until you unlock it, and calls still work.

What’s the difference between the Daily Limit and App Limits?

The Daily Limit is a total for the whole phone. App Limits cap individual apps, for example one hour of a video app on school days. You can use both together.

Can my child uninstall Kinuvo Kids?

Not without you. Removing Kinuvo Kids or changing its protection needs your Parent PIN, and you’re alerted if Accessibility or Usage Access is switched off. A full factory reset of the phone would remove it, as with any app.
